The story centres on Vadim Petrenko, a Soviet secret agent who finds himself on a spy mission to the U.K. orchestrated by the KGB. Based in his London hotel, he plans to defect to the West along with his vivacious wife, Svetlana.
He tells his own version of the unfolding events, but inevitably, there are some dark and confusing moments. The threat of the Kremlin catching up with him, preoccupies his every waking moment. His long-suffering wife Svetlana, deserves a medal for her devotion in his final years.
Vadim Petrenko, embraces the tragedy in his life with his usual caustic sense of humour and unique perspective on life. There are lots of surprises in store, taking the reader through the trials and tribulations of Dementia with Lewy Bodies including the medical therapies on offer in the past.
This is S. J. Ellison’s second novel. If you haven’t laughed out loud by the end, then it’s time to seek a therapist!
